Blue Jays transferred OF Dalton Pompey from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move was made over the weekend and cleared a spot for Leonel Campos on the 40-man roster. Pompey suffered a concussion on a slide during the recent World Baseball Classic and still isn't back to 100 percent. He'll now be eligible to return in June.

J.P. Howell (shoulder) struck out three in a scoreless frame Sunday on his minor league rehab assignment with High-A Dunedin.

Howell, who landed on the disabled list earlier this month with left shoulder soreness, has now thrown a pair of scoreless outings on his rehab stint. The southpaw appears on the verge of rejoining the Jays' bullpen.

Mets manager Terry Collins said after Sunday's game that Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) told him he'll be ready for Tuesday.

Cespedes sat out the entire weekend series against the Nationals due to a sore left hamstring, but he was available as a pinch-hitter for Sunday's game and was in the on-deck circle before the final out. It's not a sure thing he'll be ready for Tuesday, as the Mets will have him go through a pre-game workout before making a final decision. Still, he's sorely missed at the moment, as the Mets have dropped eight out of their last nine.

Nationals manager Dusty Baker confirmed Sunday that Jacob Turner will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start on Monday against the Rockies in Colorado.

The Nationals were forced to shuffle their rotation with Stephen Strasburg going on paternity leave and Baker didn't want one of the club's prospects to be forced into making their MLB debut against the Rockies at Coors Field. Turner owns a career 5.09 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 323 1/3 big league innings and will be a popular target to attack in daily fantasy on Monday.
Apr 23 - 11:27 PM

Daniel Murphy belted a grand slam in the first inning on Sunday, powering the Nationals to a 6-3 victory over the Mets and a three-game sweep of the weekend series.

A hit-batsmen, an infield single and a sharp single loaded the bases in the first inning and Murphy unloaded them by taking Zack Wheeler over the wall in right-center on a 1-0 pitch. It was his only hit in four at-bats on Sunday but proved to be the difference. He's now hitting .324/.359/.541 with three homers and 14 RBI on the season.
Apr 23 - 10:55 PM

Ryan Zimmerman crushed his sixth home run of the season as the Nationals bested the Mets on Sunday night in New York.

Zimmerman's two-run blast came courtesy of Josh Smoker and increased the Nationals' advantage to 6-3 in the eighth inning. He has been on fire at the plate to start the 2017 campaign, slashing .387/.441/.774 with six long balls and 16 RBI. He should be owned and started in even the shallowest of mixed leagues at this point.

Koda Glover earned a save for the second consecutive game on Sunday, retiring all three hitters he faced to preserve a three-run lead against the Mets.

Glover earned his first career save when he recorded the final out of Saturday's game against the Mets and it's interesting that he's the guy Dusty Baker turned to in this one with Shawn Kelley also available in the Nationals' bullpen. Glover now boasts a 2.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 6/1 K/BB ratio in 7 2/3 innings.

Max Scherzer earned his third victory of the season on Sunday night, limiting the Mets to three runs on five hits over his eight frames.

The reigning National League Cy Young award winner racked up nine strikeouts on the night while walking only one. All of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Michael Conforto swatting a leadoff homer and Neil Walker adding a two-run blast in the third. He was in complete command after that though and retired the final 16 hitters he faced. Scherzer now sports a fantastic 1.98 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 33/8 K/BB ratio across 27 1/3 innings. He'll do battle against the Mets again his next time out at home on Friday.
Apr 23 - 10:55 PM

Michael Conforto swatted a leadoff homer off Max Scherzer on Sunday but it wasn't enough to lead the Mets to victory over the Nationals.

Conforto actually had Scherer's number the entire evening, adding a pair of singles to finish the night 3-for-4. At this point, given the injuries that the Mets have endured, it has to be impossible for manager Terry Collins to keep Conforto out of the lineup. With the three-hit effort he's now hitting .361/.432/.722 with four homers and eight RBI.
Apr 23 - 10:55 PM

Neil Walker clubbed his second home run of the season as the Mets fell to the Nationals on Sunday night.

Walker's two-run shot off of Max Scherzer in the third inning pulled the Mets to within a run at 4-3, but that was as close as they would get in the ballgame. Walker finished the night 1-for-3 plus a walk and is now hitting .206/.295/.338 with eight RBI on the season.
Apr 23 - 10:55 PM

Zack Wheeler overcame a difficult first inning on Sunday to give the Mets seven strong innings of four-run ball against the Nationals.

Wheeler was behind from the get-go in this one, grazing Adam Eaton with a pitch to lead off the game before allowing an infield single to Trea Turner and a single to Bryce Harper. After getting Ryan Zimmerman on strikes, Daniel Murphy unloaded the bases with one mighty swing. Wheeler didn't lose his composure though, allowing just two additional hits and one walk through the seventh inning, striking out six in the process. While his 5.40 ERA looks troublesome at a glance, he owns a 1.11 WHIP and 21/6 K/BB ratio across 21 2/3 innings. Expect better results in a rematch against these Nationals in Washington on Saturday.
Apr 23 - 10:55 PM

Rockies manager Bud Black indicated Sunday that Ian Desmond (hand) could see some playing time in the outfield when he returns.

Desmond was signed to a five-year, $70 million contract over the winter with the expectation that he'd start at first base, but with Mark Reynolds hitting well to begin the season, the Rockies may want to keep his bat in the lineup. Regardless of where he plays, fantasy owners are anxiously awaiting Desmond's return which appears to be on track for early May.

Shelby Miller (forearm) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday.

The right-hander was lifted from Sunday's start in the fifth inning after experiencing tightness in his forearm. He admitted after the ballgame that it's the first time he's ever had an issue like this with his pitching arm and manager Torey Louvullo admitted that the team is very concerned. Expect an update on his status after the D'Backs get the results of that exam on Monday.
Apr 23 - 9:16 PM

Justin Bour went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Bour's three-run blast off Craig Stammen in the sixth inning snapped a 3-3 tie and put the Marlins on their to the ultimate 7-3 victory. The home run was his third of the season. He is now working on a five-game hitting streak, but even with those recent hits, his .194/.282/.371 triple-slash is far from ideal.
Apr 23 - 9:01 PM

Giancarlo Stanton went 3-for-4 with an RBI single in Sunday's win over the Padres.

Stanton has been in the zone of late, having collected multiple hits in three of his last four games. Two of those three multi-hit showings were of the three-hit variety. In that same four-game space, Stanton has slugged four home runs. All of this scalding work has helped to boost his batting line to .300/.367/.614 to pair with seven home runs and 15 RBI across an even 70 at-bats.
