Justin Turner belted a game-tying pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday against the Phillies.

The homer was Turner's first of the season, but fantasy owners cannot complain too loudly. He is hitting .388 with a .541 slugging percentage. The scruffy hot corner man has hit safely in 15 straight, longest active streak in the majors. He has at least one RBI in each of his past three outings.
Apr 30 - 2:44 AM

Cody Bellinger hit two home runs, including a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning, in Saturday's win against the Phillies.

The rookie was one of three players to hit back-to-back-to-back clouts off of Philadelphia closer Hector Neris, giving the Dodgers a miraculous comeback victory. Bellinger started out just 1-for-10 but he has back-to-back two-hit games, looking more and more comfortable at the plate by the at-bat. Manager Dave Roberts is on record saying Bellinger is headed back to OKC once Franklin Gutierrez (hamstring) and Joc Pederson (groin) are ready to return. However, Bellinger remains a decent short-term fantasy play until then.
Apr 30 - 2:39 AM

Brandon McCarthy was tagged for four runs, eight hits and a walk over just five innings in a no-decision Saturday against Philadelphia.

The Dodgers offense got McCarthy and his fantasy owners off the hook for the loss with three consecutive homers off of Phillies closer Hector Neris to give the home team a miraculous comeback victory. McCarthy has yet to take a loss in five starts. He has 25 strikeouts over 29 innings and continues to be a solid fantasy option. He faces a favorable matchup next weekend in San Diego.
Apr 30 - 2:35 AM

Andrew Knapp went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's road game against the Dodgers.

Knapp, a California native, was pumped for this start back in the Golden State. He delivered his first Major League homer with a career-high three hits to push his batting average to .304. Knapp won the backup gig behind Cameron Rupp in the spring and he has done nothing to change management's mind. However, he is only worth a look as a low-end No. 2 receiver in deeper NL-only play unless Rupp does down with a long-term injury at some point.
Apr 30 - 2:06 AM

Zach Eflin allowed two earned runs, four hits and no walks with four strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision Saturday at L.A. Dodgers.

Eflin threw 68 of his 103 pitches for strikes and he deserved a better fate. Fantasy owners can send their hate mail to closer Hector Neris, as he served up three consecutive homers en route to a blown save to cost Eflin a victory. Eflin is expected to make his next scheduled start Thursday at Chicago Cubs.
Apr 30 - 2:02 AM

Hector Neris allowed four earned runs while recording just one out Saturday at L.A. Dodgers, blowing his first save chance of the season.

Neris served up back-to-back-to-back homers to Yasiel Puig, Cody Bellinger and Justin Turner, blowing what looked to be an easy save chance. He had converted each of his three save chances, but he has been anything but rock solid. Neris has been dinged for at least one run in four of his past five appearances. It might just be a matter of time before management forces skipper Pete Mackanin to pull the plug on Neris and use Joaquin Benoit for ninth-inning duties.
Apr 30 - 1:57 AM

Eduardo Nunez finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI in Saturday's loss against the Padres.

Nunez kicked off the season with three straight multi-hit games, but he has just three multi-hit performances over his past 20 outings. He has tailed off tremendously, but perhaps Saturday's outing is a sign he is about to turn things around. Nunez remains useful in deeper NL-only formats, especially as a cheap source of steals.
Apr 30 - 1:51 AM

Conor Gillaspie finished 2-for-3 with a double, walk and two runs scored in Saturday's loss against the Padres.

Gillaspie accounted for the team's only extra-base hit in a lopsided loss at home. The former Wichita State standout is showing some signs of life at the plate after a terrible start. He remains useful only in the deepest of NL-only fantasy formats until this type of production becomes the norm.
Apr 30 - 1:41 AM

Matt Cain allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks with seven strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision Saturday against San Diego.

Cain threw 57 of his 86 pitches for strikes before giving way to Chris Stratton and Neil Ramirez, two relievers who were pounded for a total of 11 runs while recording just six total outs. The good news is Cain did not show any ill effects of the right hamstring injury which ended his last start prematurely.
Apr 30 - 1:38 AM

Manuel Margot finished 2-for-5 with an RBI and three strikeouts in Saturday's game against the Giants.

You have to take the good with Margot. He has collected two or more hits in five of his past nine games, and he has 10 multi-hit games overall on the season. However, he has also struck out nine times over the past six outings, including at least once in each game.
Apr 30 - 1:34 AM

Jhoulys Chacin allowed three runs, five hits and two walks while recording six strikeouts over five innings in a win Saturday at San Francisco.

The Padres provided more than enough offense for Chacin, who threw just 53 of his 87 pitches for strikes. Most nights Chacin will not receive this kind of support and the results from the pitcher will be rather subpar from a fantasy perspective. The good news is he did not show any ill effects from the left foot injury which he suffered last time out against the Diamondbacks.
Apr 30 - 1:27 AM

Wil Myers finished 3-for-5 with a three-run homer, stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 12-4 victory in San Francisco.

Myers has posted a pair of doubles, two homers and six RBI over his past six games. His average has slipped ever so slightly after his blistering start, but his extra-base production remains. He has struck out 16 times over the past eight outings, but he continues to roll up big numbers to make that a non-issue.
Apr 30 - 1:23 AM

Trevor Story belted a solo home run with a walk in Saturday's 7-6 win against the Diamondbacks.

Story is hitting just .184 overall on the season, but he is proving last year's power was certainly no fluke. He has five homers with 11 RBI over his past 11 games so start him in all fantasy leagues through thick and thin.
Apr 30 - 1:15 AM

Tyler Anderson allowed six earned runs, seven hits and three walks over five innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Anderson was wild again, throwing just 54 of his 94 pitches for strikes. The offense bailed him out by getting to Arizona closer Fernando Rodney for three in the ninth inning or Anderson would have slipped to 1-4 on the season. As it stands he has a dismal 7.71 ERA and 1.58 WHIP and he hasn't recorded a victory since his initial outing of the 2017 campaign back on April 4 in Milwaukee.
Apr 30 - 12:59 AM

Mark Reynolds finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a game-winning RBI single in the top of the ninth inning Saturday in Arizona.

Reynolds raised his average to .311 with his 10th multi-hit game in the month of April. He isn't doing it cheaply, either, as he has belted four homers while piling up 11 RBI over the past eight contests.
