Jose Reyes went 3-for-4 with a triple from the leadoff spot as the Mets beat the Braves 8-2 on Sunday.

Reyes figures to play pretty regularly early on, and he'll be the leadoff guy whenever he starts, making him worthy of a lineup spot in mixed leagues. Most likely, he won't be as much of an asset to the Mets as he will be to fantasy teams, and his playing time could dwindle in time, especially if David Wright is able to make it back at some point.

Matt Harvey impressed over six innings Sunday, allowing two runs versus the Braves.

Reports had Harvey in the mid-90s, topping out at 97 mph, in this one, though his velocity did fade later in the outing. It's still a good sign, as the Mets were hoping to see some 96s and 97s from him leading into the regular season.
Mar 26 - 4:41 PM

Mets manager Terry Collins said Sunday that Robert Gsellman will open the season in the club's starting rotation.

This has been expected for some time and became even more secure with the injury to Steven Matz. If Matz is unable to be ready for the start of the season, the Mets would also carry Seth Lugo or Zack Wheeler in the rotation. Gsellman is an outstanding target in the later rounds of mixed league drafts.
Mar 26 - 4:34 PM

Gregor Blanco is still considered day-to-day with his oblique injury.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Louvullo said Sunday that Blanco would have to return to Cactus League action in order to be included on the Opening Day roster, so his time is quickly running out. The veteran outfielder was already on the bubble for a roster spot, so his injury came at the worst possible time.
Mar 26 - 4:26 PM

Gio Gonzalez had a rare off day in March in Sunday's loss, giving up five runs in five innings against the Astros.

Gonzalez entered with a 1.10 ERA in five starts this spring. He had allowed a total of 22 earned runs in 25 spring starts since 2013, so this one was truly unusual.

Rockies placed RHP Chad Bettis on the 60-day disabled list with testicular cancer.

The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Mark Reynolds. Bettis began chemotherapy last week and is slated to miss most of the season.
Mar 26 - 4:02 PM

Rockies purchased the contract of INF Mark Reynolds from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Reynolds will serve as the Rockies' regular first baseman until Ian Desmond (hand) returns. He batted .282/.356/.450 with 14 homers over 441 plate appearances with Colorado last season and isn't a bad short-term option in deeper fantasy formats.
Mar 26 - 4:01 PM

Braves signed RHP David Hernandez to a minor league contract.

Hernandez opted out of his minor league deal with the Giants on Friday and apparently likes his potential opportunity with the Braves more. He might have to spend a little time in the minors first but should get a shot in Atlanta.
Mar 26 - 3:58 PM

Mike Leake scattered seven hits over six innings in the Cardinals' 3-0 shutout of the Marlins on Sunday.

Leake lowered his spring ERA to 3.81. He was terrific last spring before his disappointing season, finishing with a 2.25 ERA and a 24/2 K/BB ratio in 20 innings during Grapefruit League action. This year, he has a 14/6 K/BB ratio in 26 innings. He looks like a fringe guy in mixed leagues right now.
Mar 26 - 3:37 PM

Matt Bowman pitched two scoreless innings Sunday to maintain his flawless spring ERA.

Bowman has allowed just an unearned run over nine innings. He has a 7/0 K/BB ratio. The Cardinals carried him throughout last season after taking him from the Mets in the Rule 5 draft. They're able to send him back to the minors now, but they have absolutely no plans to do so.
Mar 26 - 3:36 PM

Dexter Fowler went 2-for-3 and hit his first homer of the spring Sunday against the Marlins.

Fowler is off to a fine start with his new team, hitting .351 with a 1.063 OPS this spring. He's expected to be a fixture in the leadoff spot ahead of Aledmys Diaz and Matt Carpenter in the Cardinals' order.
Mar 26 - 3:34 PM

Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-3 on Sunday and is 9-for-16 over his last five games.

Ichiro had been 3-for-22 this spring before his recent surge. He'll open up as the Marlins' fourth outfielder again. Ideally, he won't need to play as often as he did last year.
Mar 26 - 3:33 PM

Corey Seager (oblique) could be held out of the exhibition Freeway Series with the Angels this weekend in order to get more at-bats in minor league games.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was quick to point out that it would have nothing to do with Seager's health but it simply a way for him to get more at-bats in order to knock the rust off. "He just needs to get his timing," Roberts said. Seager has been limited to just five Cactus League at-bats due to an oblique injury. The good news is that his oblique ailment seems like a non-issue at this point. Seager is fully expected to be ready on Opening Day.
Mar 26 - 3:09 PM

Kolten Wong said Sunday that he would "100 percent" rather be traded than be platooned at second base.

It was one of a host of scathing comments from Wong in the wake of Cardinals manager Mike Matheny saying Saturday that the club would consider a platoon at second base. "I honestly don't give a (censored)," Wong said when asked about the team mulling over a platoon. Wong added that he doesn't want to be "wasting my time" with the Cards if they don't have faith in him. They're words Wong probably shouldn't have aired in public, but you can understand his frustration after the club essentially committed to him as the regular second baseman this winter. That said, Wong could make it all a moot point if he simply played better. He sports an underwhelming career .248/.309/.370 batting line and entered Sunday hitting just .182/.265/.250 this spring.
Mar 26 - 3:00 PM

Pedro Baez (thumb) will face hitters on Monday.

It will be a nice step, but Baez still hasn't pitched in a game this spring due to a nagging right thumb injury. He's probably going to begin the season on the disabled list.
