Bears agreed to terms with QB Mark Sanchez, formerly of the Cowboys, to a one-year contract.

He slides in as the No. 2 behind Mike Glennon. Unproven, Glennon is one of the league's worst starters on paper, so there's a chance Sanchez makes 2017 starts. The No. 5 overall pick of the 2009 draft, Sanchez has attempted just 109 passes over the past two seasons. The 30 year old is a mediocre backup.

Jets signed WR Quinton Patton, formerly of the 49ers.

Coming off a career high 37 catches for 408 yards, Patton is reuniting with WRs coach John Morton, who coached Patton the first two years of his career under Jim Harbaugh. Not an explosive athlete, Patton makes his name with competence and sure hands. He'll fight for No. 3 or 4 duties in New York.

Chargers re-signed RB Branden Oliver to a one-year contract.

Oliver wasn't tendered as a restricted free agent. Recovering from a torn Achilles' tendon, the Chargers correctly assumed they could re-sign Oliver for less than the "low" tender of $1.797 million. When healthy, Oliver is a versatile backup who does a little bit of everything, but nothing at an above-average level.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Julio Jones (foot surgery) is expected to be "full strength" for the start of training camp.

Jones' initial timeline had him questionable for the start of camp, but apparently a more optimistic estimate has emerged. Either way, the superstar figures to be babied through the summer, and perhaps even held out of the preseason. The only goal is having Jones ready for Week 1, which he should be.
Mar 23 - 1:49 PM

Bengals re-signed RB Cedric Peerman to a one-year contract.

Peerman spent most of 2016 on injured reserve with a broken arm he suffered in the preseason. A standout on special teams, Peerman could get bigger look on offense following the departure of Rex Burkhead.

Adam Thielen's new deal with the Vikings is a four-year, $19.246-million pact through 2020.

The deal was originally reported as a three-year deal because Thielen had not signed his RFA tender, but it apparently was a three-year extension. Thielen will earn $6.746 million in 2017, and the value of the contract can reach $9 million per year via incentives. Even with 2016 first-rounder Laquon Treadwell on the roster, Thielen should be locked into the No. 2 job.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Saints coach Sean Payton and Johnny Manziel met to discuss "a return to football" during Super Bowl week.

RapSheet has also reported Manziel drew "real interest" at the Combine and is still training for a return. While this report is likely true, it does not mean the Saints will rush out to sign a marginally talented quarterback with a troubling legal history, especially considering the city they play in and Manziel's issues with substance abuse. It still does not seem likely Manziel will get another shot in the NFL.

Shane Vereen agreed to reduce his base salary from $3.15 million to $2.15 million.

The details of the agreement are not available, but Vereen will likely be able to earn some of that money back via incentives. The Giants made it clear Vereen would return when they paid his $500,000 roster bonus earlier this month, but this move gives them some financial relief in the event he is not able to come back from tearing his triceps twice last season.

Chargers held a private workout with Texas Tech QB Pat Mahomes.

They also reportedly worked out Tennessee's Josh Dobbs. This does not mean the Chargers are drafting Mahomes or Dobbs, but it does show they are doing real background work on top quarterbacks. Philip Rivers is signed through 2019, but he will turn 36 in December. It is time for the Chargers to at least consider their future at the position, and it will not be surprising if they add a developmental quarterback in this year's draft.

Seahawks claimed K John Lunsford off waivers from the Bucs.

Tampa Bay cut Lunsford when it added Nick Folk to compete with -- and probably overtake -- failed 2016 second-rounder Roberto Aguayo. In Seattle, Lunsford will battle head-case Blair Walsh to replace Steven Hauschka.
Mar 22 - 9:11 PM

ESPN's Dan Graziano reports the Giants aren't interested in re-signing free agent Victor Cruz.

Cruz hasn't generated any interest since visiting the Panthers back in February. He may have to wait until after the draft to sign with a team.
Mar 22 - 7:35 PM

Latavius Murray underwent ankle surgery on Wednesday.

Murray dealt with ankle issues in the second half of last season, but didn't miss any time. The Vikings were aware he needed surgery before signing him to a three-year deal. It sounds like this is a minor clean-up to remove bone chips. Murray will likely miss all of OTAs, but is expected to be ready for training camp.

Packers re-signed RB Christine Michael.

The Packers were the only team to show interest in Michael. He'll return for another year after getting claimed off waivers last November. Michael should have a better grasp of Green Bay's scheme with a full offseason to prepare. With Eddie Lacy gone, he'll be in the mix for a committee role with Ty Montgomery.
Mar 22 - 6:34 PM

The Vikings have interest in free agent Rod Streater.

The Vikings haven't visited with Streater but are in the market for a speed receiver to replace Cordarrelle Patterson. The Colts, Seattle, Cleveland and the 49ers are also in the mix.
Mar 22 - 5:31 PM

Free agent K Zach Hocker worked out for the Jaguars.

Hocker spent 2016 out of the league. He would add competition for Jason Myers.
