According to ProFootballFocus, 63.5 percent of Gerald Everett's receiving yards in college came after the catch.

Everett also led all college tight ends in missed tackles forced during his final two seasons at South Alabama. PFF has compared Everett's skill set to Antonio Gates, while the Rams see him playing a Jordan Reed-type role. It's still going to be a big adjustment for Everett moving from the relatively low-stakes Sun Belt Conference to the bright lights of the NFL.

Free agent TE Joseph Fauria is attempting a comeback.

Fauria was out of the league last year after spending time on the Cardinals' and Patriots' practice squads in 2015. "Last year didn’t go as planned," he admitted. "I didn’t get any tryouts, but I have my head on straight now. I’m in good shape. I’m ready to go. I just want one more chance." The 6'7 Fauria has caught eight career touchdowns in 23 games but hasn't played an NFL snap since 2014.

ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss expects Danny Amendola and Andrew Hawkins to battle for the team's final wide receiver spot.

Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and special teams ace Matthew Slater are all locks, while Amendola and Hawkins find themselves firmly on the bubble. Austin Carr, Cody Hollister, Devin Lucien, and DeAndrew White are also on the roster. The injury-prone Amendola competes for a roster spot every year, but his familiarity with the Patriots' offense makes him a slight favorite over Hawkins, who caught 33 balls for 324 yards and three touchdowns for Cleveland in 2016.

ESPN Lions reporter Michael Rothstein said don't expect Theo Riddick (wrist) to "do much" at OTAs.

Riddick is coming off surgeries on both wrists and the Lions have a reputation of bringing players along slowly after injuries. Per Rothstein, the goal is to have Riddick ready "by some point in August." Riddick will fill his usual role on passing downs when healthy.

Suspended Jets TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins dropped 25 pounds this offseason.

After his weight reached the 280s last season, ASJ is down to 260. His offseason regimen included hot pilates and working out up to three times a day with a Las Vegas fitness expert. ASJ's career bottomed out last year after his September DUI arrest and subsequent release from Tampa Bay, but it looks like he's recommitted heading into his contract year. He'll begin the season serving a two-game ban.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss expects the Patriots to hold onto Dion Lewis, but in a lesser role.

The Patriots' backfield is well stocked following the additions of Rex Burkhead and Mike Gillislee. Reiss expects the Pats to "carefully manage" injury-riddled Lewis this season, limiting him to 15-20 snaps per game. Reiss did note that Lewis hit the line of scrimmage with "noticeable burst" at Thursday's OTA practice. Lewis is also expected to return kickoffs.

Franchise-tagged QB Kirk Cousins says extension talks with the Redskins have been "really positive."

"As one person told me, Deadlines do deals," said Cousins. "That’s just kind of a rule in negotiating, so why would something happen way before a deadline? I’m not in a hurry, they’re not in a hurry, so we’ll just see how things go." The Redskins have been in talks with Cousins since the start of the offseason, but haven't gotten anywhere. It sounds like Cousins is still open to an extension if his demands are reached. Washington has until July 15 to work out a deal.

Lions second-year QB Jake Rudock has bulked up to 215 pounds.

Rudock’s increased size/strength has stood out at OTAs. He’s also showed improved velocity on throws. "He’s gotten stronger, physically," coach Jim Caldwell said. "He’s thrown better. A little better knowledge, obviously with what he’s doing from an offensive standpoint." With Dan Orlovsky gone, Rudock will open 2017 as Matt Stafford’s backup.

Ty Montgomery says he has a better understanding of the mental aspect of being a running back.

"I was running a lot on instincts," said Montgomery, who transitioned from wide receiver to running back during the season last year. "I knew where I was supposed to be going, but it was instinct. Now, I know techniques. I know rotations and understanding gap rules and what the defense is supposed to be doing. I know my reads." Montgomery averaged 6.65 yards per touch, including a robust 5.94 yards per carry. He enters OTAs atop the depth chart, but the Packers drafted three running backs. Montgomery will most likely end up a the lead part of a 2017 committee.

Jerick McKinnon has bulked up to 211 pounds.

McKinnon trained with Adrian Peterson in Houston this offseason. The added weight should help improve his strength between the tackles. McKinnon has been repping with the first team at OTAs, but Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray are the favorites for Week 1 carries.

Coach Andy Reid said Tyler Bray has an opportunity to hold onto the backup job.

Bray is working with the second-team offense at OTAs. His veteran status has him ahead of Patrick Mahomes, but Mahomes will get a chance to pass him in training camp. A strong-armed 2013 UDFA, Bray is in the final year of his contract.

ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus put Torrey Smith's over/under at 47 catches for 820 yards and six touchdowns.

If Jordan Matthews remains with the team, we will take the under on all three. With Alshon Jeffery, Matthews, and Zach Ertz all likely to earn large target shares, there is not much left for Smith even without considering Darren Sproles' role, and Carson Wentz is unlikely to attempt 600 passes again after coach Doug Pederson expressed concern about last year's run/pass split. Smith adds an important element to the Eagles' passing attack, but he won't see enough usage to be a fantasy factor.

Robert Woods said he wants to be the "No. 1 receiver."

It is an achievable goal. Woods played a secondary role in Buffalo, but he is in position to see a much larger target share atop a Rams depth chart filled with young and complementary players. Almost certain to lead the team in targets, Woods has the look of a late-round value pick in PPR formats.

The Philadelphia Daily News' Jeff McLane reports Carson Wentz looks stronger and is showing better mechanics during OTAs.

McLane said Wentz's "spirals are tighter" and none of his "20 or so throws" sailed, which was a problem last season. Normally this could be dismissed as fluff, but Wentz did work with 3DQB gurus Adam Dedeaux and Tom House in the spring "It's really just cleaning up some things from an efficiency standpoint," Wentz said of the work. "No mass overhaul, nothing really major. ... A lot of it having to do with footwork." With better weapons and an intact offensive line, Wentz should take a step forward as a sophomore.

ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini believes Josh McCown is the "heavy favorite" to start.

McCown starting has been the expectation since he signed in March, but the Jets plan to give all three quarterbacks equal OTA reps and have continued to say there is an open battle. While Cimini does expect there to be a competition, he thinks McCown "will be the clear-cut front-runner" entering camp. Even so, McCown has struggled to stay on the field in recent years, so it is likely we will see Christian Hackenberg at some point this season.
